MetaMask – Ethereum Browser Extension

MetaMask is an extension for your browser that allows you to view the Ethereum blockchain right from your browser. The extension allows the user to perform Ethereum transactions from within the web browser.

How does it work?

The MetaMask extension incorporates Ethereum’s web3 API to any website’s Javascript context, meaning when you open a web page, the extension will be able to read the information stored in the blockchain. The information includes the Ethereum addresses and associated balances, the Ethereum address of each wallet, the balance of the contract address, and the number of transactions performed.

Once a user has signed up, a wallet in their MetaMask client is created. The user can transfer tokens between addresses and withdraw them, as well as move funds between wallets.
